The Basics of Plastic Surgery
for Stretch Marks
If you’ve been looking for a way to get rid of stretch
marks, or to prevent more from showing up, chances are you’ve tried
every kind of cream, lotion, and skin care regimen available. Expensive
creams may diminish fine lines and wrinkles, but chances are these
‘potions’ may only take away the bold appearance of stretch marks, and
this could take quite a while. And while plastic surgery has previously
been thought not to effectively treat stretch marks, there may be some
new developments that you’ll want to find out more about, depending on
how long you’ve had the stretch marks, and where on the body the marks
are located.
Before you consider plastic surgery for stretch marks, or spend large
amounts of money on creams or at-home treatments that you’re not
absolutely sure will work, you’ll want to take a good look at the shape
and length of the stretch marks. Stretch marks are a result of tears in
the inner layers of the skin, and most marks are a few millimeters in
diameter. You’ll want to consult a doctor about the right treatment for
your stretch marks when you first notice them; the marks usually start
out a purplish color, and will turn lighter if left untreated. In the
beginning stages of stretch marks, you can massage the area of the body
where the marks are daily with body oil, or by receiving regular
micro-dermabrasion. This will help the stretch marks to become less
noticeable and will help to heal the epidermis quicker. Once the stretch
marks have turned white, they will not respond as effectively to
massages or microdermabrasion, so plastic surgery may be the best
option.
