Common Treatments of Stretch
Marks
Stretch marks are commonly associated with the quick weight gain and
stretching of the skin during pregnancy. Pregnant women, however, are
not the only ones to develop stretch marks. Anyone who gains or looses
weight quickly, children going through puberty, and body builders are
also candidates for the fine lines that skin can develop.
Stretch marks are most common on the belly and thighs, but they can
occur anywhere the skin has been overstretched. When skin becomes
overstretched, the normal production of collagen, the main component in
the elasticity of skin, becomes hindered.
No method has been developed to completely eliminate stretch marks.
There are various ways of reducing the appearance of stretch marks. The
common treatments for stretch marks are topical treatments (creams,
ointments and body make up), microdermabrasion and laser therapy.
