Topical Steroids
Topical steroids are used for a number of dermatological conditions that
have been known to cause stretch marks. Eczema, psoriasis, and other
skin conditions are not cured by topical steroids; however, they do
relieve symptoms associated with the skin conditions. These steroids are
prescribed by a dermatologist and should be used according to doctor’s
orders.
Stretch marks caused by topical steroids can occur in any area where the
steroid is applied. These stretch marks can be fairly severe looking or
can resemble any other type of stretch mark. They are caused by an
overuse of the cream or a prolonged use of the cream. In fact, other
types of steroids, including oral steroids, may also cause stretch marks
without even contacting the skin.
